Special Needs

Various special needs children and adults experience different frustrating aspects of which the breakdown in communication is one. Sign Language creates an avenue of communication that strengthens speech and language development.

We give special attention to the use of SA Sign Language in environments where children or adults have communicative challenges due to medical conditions such as Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD, Cerebral Palsy, Asperger, Verbal Dyspraxia, Hearing Loss, Intellectually challenges and a variety of other medical conditions.

It has been experienced that whén SA Sign Language is used as an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) tool, in other words, to use it alongside normal speech (whatever the language may be), it also may enhance and better verbal communication and speech development.

There are several ways to help children / individuals to talk but the most popular way is to teach speech through the utilization of Sign Language. Sign Language and verbal communication can be taught simultaneously, therefore demonstrating to the child / individual that spoken words and mastered signs go hand in hand.

Sign Language has become a wonderful tool for parents, family, caregivers, educators and therapists all over the world, working with special needs children and adults.

The four main benefits are:

ASSISTING WITH LANGUAGE AND SPEECH DEVELOPMENT

RELIEVING FRUSTRATION CAUSING NEGATIVE BEHAVIOUR

STRENGTHENING SOCIAL INTERACTION POSSIBLE IN A VARIETY OF ENVIRONMENTS

BONDING AS PARENT, THERAPIST, TEACHER ETC WITH THE INDIVIDUAL INVOLVED.

Of course there are more benefits to be experiences, but these are just the main few we wanted to highlight for you.
