WHAT ARE YOUR LEARNING OPTIONS?
Glad you asked. There are now 3 options!
1. GROUP TRAINING
This could be done online or in a physical group setting. You let us know where you are, the details and needs of your group and we can provide you with a quote. This training can be done over 2 or 4 days, depending on your need, and with sessions varying between 2 to 6 hours. Let us know what your needs are at contact@tinyhandz.co.za and we will cater to your need accordingly!
This type of training has the following benefits:
- You will have live access to the trainer and can ask immediate questions.
- If done online, the training will be broken up into sessions of 2 – 6 hours each so you will have space and time to digest all that was taught and be ready for the next class.
- If done online, you can access the course from your office or home as long as you have a computer and internet (and of course a data package of some kind to be able to be part of an online training streaming session).
- You will be able to practice with other online students as you learn.
- 8 CPD points are given to professionals registered with the HPCSA or the SACSSP. With that said, remember that ANYONE can attend this training.
- Around 180 signs are taught in our Basic Training. More than you will find with any other online training companies (if you are lucky to find one ;*)
( We have had clients like Durban University Technology (DUT), Unica school (Pretoria), and the Department of Health and Pathways in Bethlehem use our services over the last year. So even if you want to consider the ONLINE, this will be an assured way to save some money as we then can cut on traveling costs and make training even more affordable for your groups.)
2. INDIVIDUAL ONLINE TRAINING
This option has become more and more popular, as you can do this in the comfort of your own home. You have 30 to 60 days to complete an individual online Training where you learn signs from SA Sign Language and ways to apply them within the special needs spectrum.
You access the online training site with pre-loaded videos for the number of days you choose, and you can start on whatever date you wish. You can choose the 30-day option but if you feel you need extra time, you can go for the 60 days option or just add another 30 days later if you want, but 30 days should be enough to view all the videos and in such a way, learn the signs and practice as well. Fun quizzes and assignments are also part of the fun! ;*) All of this to be viewed in the comfort of your home at your available time, even if you just have some time after work or over weekends. This type of training has the following benefits:
- You can access the course from your office or home as long as you have a computer and internet (and of course a data package of some kind to open and view the videos. No videos need to be downloaded)
- You can work through each video in your own time in the comfort of your space.
- The videos are easy to watch, and you get to do exercises with the tutor in-between as well.
- You can order material to have/keep with you as you work through the material and for reference afterward, but the choice is completely yours. (You don’t need it to do the training.)
- You receive a secure Username and Password for your personal use and log in.
- You can start the training ANY DAY YOU WISH!.
- You just need a computer or laptop and Internet Access to watch the many (short) fun-filled videos, which is especially great if you are working full-time/part-time or in-between work and taking care of the family. ;*)
- You can contact the training provider via messaging on the training platform at any time!

3. ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING
This is our new and exciting training option! Here you can enjoy a 30-minute session with the trainer on a regular (pre-booked) basis via Zoom, to learn and grow your Sign Language skill. Whatever your level may be! E-mail your needs to students@tinyhandz.co.za and you will be quoted accordingly. You can have from 1 to 10 sessions with the trainer, as per your specific need.
LET’S TAKE A DEEPER LOOK INTO THE TRAINING –
TINY HANDZ TRAINING
- Tiny Handz workshops have been presented throughout South Africa, according to need and demand. All signs taught in the workshops are based on South African Sign Language.
- No knowledge of SA Sign Language is needed for a person to complete our training. During the workshops, training material is also made available that can be used as a reference afterward.
- In our training, you will be taught how to use SA Sign Language within the special needs spectrum to help both child and adult with speech or language delay. The use of the signs is encouraged to be used with VERBAL language; to be part of the total communication package. Signs are taught within practical categories as set out below.
- We focus mainly on the use of the sign as an assistive tool (next to spoken language, whatever language that may be) to help with language development and to rid some frustration experienced with a lack of communication. We aim to keep training very interactive and great fun, so you do NOT want to miss the opportunity to attend a live session! You also do not need any Sign Language background or training to be taught this amazing skill. You also do not have to be English, Afrikaans, or of any other specific spoken language. Sign Language goes along with any language spoken when used as an AAC ;*)
- 8 CPD points are allocated for professionals attending. Yeah! ;*)
- Live classes are mainly presented in English but the signs can be used in any language.

Intermediate Training is currently only available through the 30-day Online Training Program. It can be made available to existing groups so contact us if you need Intermediate training for your group.
Also a total of 8 CPD’s for professionals completing the course. Note: Only those who have completed the Tiny Handz Basic Workshops 1 and 2 will be allowed to complete the Intermediate Training Workshops.
